Mansfield University and the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education is providing Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus to students at no cost via the Microsoft Student Advantage program. Each student may install this software on up to five computers and five mobile devices - PC, Mac, Apple iOS, Android and Windows Mobile.

The subscription is free as long as you're an active Mansfield student.

Downloading Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus is easy! Access is tied to your @mansfield.edu email address. Scroll down for installation guides and a list of included applications.

Windows Office 365 ProPlus Installation Guide

  1. Before you start, you must uninstall previous versions of Microsoft Office. This will not affect any saved documents on your PC.
  2. Go to https://www.office.com/
  3. Log on to your Mansfield email/Office 365 account.
  4. In Outlook Web Access (OWA), choose Install Office from the top-right menu.
  5. Choose Office 365 Apps.
  6. The page will automatically download the install file.to the Office options.
  7. Click the Setup file at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Click Yes to start installing.
  9. After installation, start Office and sign in with your Mansfield account.

Mac Office 365 ProPlus Installation Guide

  1. Before you start, you must uninstall previous versions of Microsoft Office. This will not affect any saved documents on your Mac.
  2. Go to https://www.office.com/
  3. Log on to your Mansfield email/Office365 account.
  4. In Outlook Web Access (OWA), choose Install Office from the top-right menu.
  5. Choose Office 365 Apps.
  6. The page will default to the Office options. Click Install.
  7. NOTE: If you are unsure which version of Office you should install (32-bit or 64-bit), see the Which version is best for me? article.
  8. Once the download completes, double-click the Microsoft Office 2011.dmg file and run the installer.
  9. After you have completed the install process, open an Office application, such as Word , and you will be presented with the Get Started with Office 2011 screen. Select Sign in to an existing Office 365 Subscription.
  10. Enter your Mansfield email address and click Next.
  11. If you are prompted to choose Microsoft Account or Organizational Account, choose Organizational Account.

    1. Enter your password and click Sign In. Your Mac may prompt you that "Microsoft Office Setup Assistant would like to access your contacts." Click OK.
    2. Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office, select your preferred setting for updates and click Continue.
    3. After setup runs, you may be prompted with the Get Started with Office 2011 screen again. Quit the application and reopen to start using Microsoft Office.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a fully-functioning version of Office 365? Can I use it offline?

Yes, this is the latest version of Office 365 with complete functionality. You can install Office directly to your device without having to connect to the Internet for access. However, students must connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days to for an automatic check of their license eligibility.

How long will I have access to Office 365 ProPlus?

Enrolled students are eligible for the Office 365 ProPlus use. Students must connect to the Internet once every 30 days to verify they are still eligible for the program. Students who graduate or leave the university will lose access shortly after they leave. When the access license expires, students retain read-only access to their Microsoft Office files, and will have the option to purchase their own Office ProPlus license.

I recently purchased Microsoft Office for my personal use. Can I be reimbursed?

No. You purchased a consumer product. Office 365 ProPlus is available through MU and PASSHE's existing agreement with Microsoft.

How many devices can I install the software on?

Your are allowed to install Microsoft Office on up to five computers.You can also run Office Mobile for Android oriOS on up to five mobile devices.

If you are having problems accessing the download of your product, contact CT and we should be able to help. Once you have installed the Office program, you must get support from Microsoft.
